Court grants three-day police custody of Islamuddin, the kingpin of ATM burglars in the city

Coimbatore : The judicial magistrate court here granted three-day police custody of S. Isalmuddin (42), the kingpin of an ATM burglary gang which looted over Rs.30 lakhs from city ATMs in the past couple of months.

Islamuddin, the kingpin of ATM burglary gang was arrested from near Jaipur in a joint operation with the Rajasthan Police and brought to the city on February 2..


Islamuddin headed the gang of eight burglars who have burgled Rs.3 lakhs from an ATM at Peelamaedu in December 2016. The same gang also looted Rs.30 from other ATMs in the city and made good their escape to Bangalore

The police teams which have been formed to nab the culprits arrested the eight of the gang members during vehicle check and seized a truck, a car, and Rs. 3 lakh cash from them and arrested them. 

However, the kingpin of the gang, Islamuddin had escaped the police dragnet and fled to North India who was arrested later.

Judge Rajavelu while granting the police custody instructed the police to reproduce Islamuddin in court before 5.30 pm on February 15.
