A 55-year-old man was injured by a tusker in the wee hours today at Boothapallam Reserve in Mettupalayam.
He was rushed to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for treatment.
According to sources, the man identified as J. Chinnan, a resident of Boothapallam village in Nellithurai. He had reportedly entered the reserve near the village around 2.15 p.m. to ease himself without knowing the presence of an elephant.
The elephant that was straying near the bushes had hit him the tusks and his left shoulder was ripped apart. He was immediately rushed to CMCH and is being treated for his wounds.
